Street Food
A tarte framboise (raspberry tart):
One of my favorite components of Parisian gastronomie was the less sophisticated side of things – street food. Instead of finding hotdogs and pretzels at street stands, as is often the case in the United States, one can find crêpes, sandwiches, and pastries. It’s not uncommon around lunchtime to see people on the go eating some kind of delicious-looking sandwich on a baguette wrapped in a narrow paper bag, or to see a group of kids walking around after school lets out snacking on crêpes dripping with Nutella. Incidentally, crêpes with Nutella were my favorite street snack, although a savory crêpe for a meal on the run wasn’t bad either.
